Capacity Planning

Capacity planning is working out in advance whether you have enough people, equipment and space to meet the work coming your way, and acting before you fall short. It looks at expected demand, such as a busy season, and checks it against what your team and tools can actually handle.

It is like a cafe owner counting expected customers before the summer rush and hiring another barista in time, rather than watching a queue walk out the door. Capacity planning matters because running too lean loses sales and burns out staff, while running too heavy wastes money on idle resources.
